About Fire

It is a fact that every major fire outbreak starts small, and grows rather rapidly if there are no mitigation in place to quickly put them out. The science of fire is rather straight forward. Fire is a chemical reaction. For any fire to start, there are three components that have to be present: Oxygen, Fuel, and Ignition Source. Oxygen makes up about twenty one percent of the air that we breathe. Fuel is any material that is capable of catching fire and burning; like paper, furniture, plastics, clothes, kerosene, candles, petrol, diesel, etc. There are different ignition sources: electrical sparks, the sun, open flames, cigarette butt, etc. All these components surround us in our operating facilities, offices and our homes. Hence, the probability of a fire outbreak is always there.
